Volunteers
We are " Servants' Touch Ministries,
Inc." We serve a racially and ethnically diverse population of
youth, so we strive to recruit an equally diverse population of adult
volunteers. Volunteers are selected for this ministry based on their
faith in Jesus Christ and commitment to serving God by serving youth and their
families. For some, this is their first experience with Christian
ministry and community volunteering. To others this is a different kind
of opportunity for continued service.
In June of 2000, Alaska's First Lady, Mrs. Tony
Knowles, presented one of our volunteers with the "Volunteer of the
Year" award for his service at the Fairbanks Youth Facility.
The talents, skills and interests of the volunteer determine the area of ministry placement. Our team is composed of people both working in the “front lines” (like teaching, one-on-one sharing, counseling, etc.) and those working behind the scene in support roles (record-keeping, making telephone calls, prayer, etc.).
Volunteers serving the youth
directly must first complete a background check, than attend orientation and
training sessions.
Opportunities are available
to attend seminars and training sessions sponsored by Straight Ahead Ministries
on the East Coast.
We furnish a periodic series
of training letters entitled “Mini-Helps” to provide training ideas for those
on the “front-lines.”
