CURRENT OPPORTUNITIES AND FUTURE PROGRAMS
Volunteers have seen many positive
results as God has worked through their efforts; however, there are
opportunities to do more. Servants' Touch Ministries has been approached
by State agencies and community organizations to provide more services to
at-risk youth. In addition to the group home, Diamond Willow Discipleship
Home (DWDH), we have acquired Master’s Touch Manufacturing (MTM). MTM provides not only the opportunity for
youth to learn various carpentry skills, but it also helps support the
ministry. The logical extension of our
current ministry is to develop more avenues for at-risk youth and others
needing help in the community, that the work begun
inside the institution can continue after release.
Diamond Willow Discipleship Home for boys who are at least 14 years of age offers
a family-like setting, while providing much-needed structure for learning to
walk with Christ. Each participant is expected to attend school and work
part-time. They are taught basic living skills, such as learning how to
drive, manage time and plan a budget. They also receive one-on-one
discipleship and counseling, concerning issues that caused them trouble in the
first place.
Our goal is to mirror successful, Christ centered programs which produce young
men who contribute to the community, be encouraged to graduate from high school
and possibly attend college – all the while reducing the rate of recidivism and
the burden on our society.
